Lot 1637 Alaskan Yukon Exposition Medal Worlds Fair

Obverse: souvenir of the Dog Eaters, pictorial; reverse: pictorial Igorrote.

The Igorrote Village was the featured attraction of the "Pay Streak" area of the AYPE held from June through October 1909 in Seattle Washington. Fifty members of the "head hunting, dog eating, wild people" from the Philippines lived in view of visitors to the Fair. It offered a chance for Americans "to study at close range the life, manners, customs and industries" of a different culture.
